The fourth of the Society’s winter series of lectures for 2013/14 will be held on Monday 24 February 2014 at 7.00 pm in the Council Chambers, Sandwick Road. Our guest speaker for the evening will be Jane Maciver, Chief Executive of the Stornoway Port Authority, and the theme of her talk will be “What lies beneath – a different perspective of Stornoway Harbour”.

Jane Maciver was born in Stornoway and educated at The Nicolson Institute before going on to gain a law degree at Aberdeen University as well as a post graduate diploma in law practice before working in Glasgow and later Edinburgh where she practiced law for 13 years, specialising in corporate and commercial law. Upon her return to Stornoway, Jane established her own business consultancy and was also an IIP Assessor for the Highlands and Islands and a freelance project manager. In 2010 she was appointed Chief Executive of Stornoway Port Authority, where she oversees the day to day running of the organisation and the Authority’s ambitious pans for development of the port. Jane is currently President of the Rotary Club of Stornoway for 2013/14.
