The third in the Society’s winter series of public lectures will be held on Monday 27th January 2014 at 7.00 pm in the Council Chambers, Sandwick Road. The guest speaker will be Ken Galloway and the subject of his talk will be the history of The Nicolson Institute clock tower from 1902  to the present day. New research has revealed a lot of information about this well known local landmark built for the original school on Sandwick Rd and which has survived both the demolition of the former in the early 1970’s and that of it’s short lived successor, the Nicolson-Lewis Sports Centre in 2003. Today it stands proudly in front of the new main campus of The Nicolson Institute, opened in 2012.
