The third in the Society’s winter series of lectures will be held on Monday 27th January 2014 at 7.00 pm in the Council Chambers, Sandwick Road. Our guest speaker will be Ken Galloway and the theme of his talk will be the history of the Nicolson Institute Clock Tower from 1902 to the present day. This familiar local landmark has seen no less than three buildings fall and rise on the same site; firstly the original Nicolson school building (the Clock School) built in 1872;  the Nicolson-Lewis Sports Centre, completed in 1974 and demolished in 2003 and the new Nicolson Institute main campus which opened in 2012.

Kenneth W Galloway was educated at The Nicolson Institute
